Overview
GCash is a digital wallet payment option available to eligible merchants who have been onboarded for GCash. This FAQ provides guidance on enabling GCash, managing member payment methods, transaction fees, refunds, and common payment-related scenarios.
1. How can I enable GCash for my business?
- You may enable GCash if you are part of a merchant group that has already been onboarded for GCash. If you are unsure whether your merchant group has been onboarded, please contact your Franchisor.
- If you are not part of a merchant group, please contact your Software Provider to enquire about enabling GCash.
2. Will the transaction fee be different for GCash payments?
- Yes. The transaction fee for GCash is different from Visa and Mastercard transactions.
- The GCash transaction fee is fixed and is defined in the contractual agreement between Ezypay, the partner, and your merchant group.
3. Can I pass Ezypay fees on to my members?
- Transaction fees are payable by the merchant and cannot be passed on to members.
- However, Failed Payment Fees and other applicable Ezypay fees may be charged to members in accordance with Ezypay's terms and conditions.
4. How do I update GCash as a payment method for a member?
- The process is the same as updating any other payment method.
- Simply select GCash as the payment method and follow the onscreen prompts provided by your software platform.
5. What happens if a member does not have the GCash app?
- If a member scans the GCash QR code and does not have the GCash app installed, they will be redirected to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to download the application.
6. Can multiple members use the same GCash account?
- A single GCash ID can only be linked to one member within the same merchant group. If you attempt to link the same GCash ID to multiple members in the same merchant group, an error message will be displayed.
- The same GCash ID may be linked to multiple members only if those members belong to different merchant groups.
7. What happens if a member unlinks their GCash account?
- Ezypay is not notified immediately when a member unlinks their GCash account.
- Ezypay will only become aware of the change when a payment attempt is made and fails due to an "Invalid payment method" error.
8. Can a member relink their GCash account after unlinking it?
- Yes. To relink their GCash account, the member must complete the original sign-up process again by scanning the QR code provided during onboarding.
9. How do I process a refund for a GCash payment?
- Refunds are processed in the same way as other payment methods and must be initiated through your software platform.
- Unlike Visa and Mastercard refunds, GCash refunds are typically reflected instantly or within the same day. During pilot testing, refunds may need to be processed manually by the merchant.
10. Can members use GCash to pay through PayNow?
- Yes. Members can settle failed payments through PayNow using GCash, provided GCash is already configured as a payment method in the system.
- If a GCash payment method is already displayed in PayNow, members may also replace their existing GCash ID with a new one before making payment.
